N.Y.C Color Banana Split Review.

So, Seeing as though it's School Holidays, I'm Finally able to wear nail polish again! And also, because it's summer, I thought I'd do my first review on a bright colour! This color is so bright, I actually didn't know if I liked it at first! This colour is N.Y.C colour ' Banana Split' , and I dont actually think its in a collection, because i've only started seeing this brand since about half way through this year. I was surprised, because these polishes are so cheap! So I thought they wouldn't be good, at all. But, I'm actually very impressed! This is the second colour i've tried from this brand, and I'm pretty happy about it!
You know what would be great this summer? Eating bananas, banana splits, banana smoothies, banana milkshakes, even banana flavoured ice cream, all through the summer, but if you can't do that, I'd say wearing it would be almost as good! So, even if wearing this bright , 'banana-ry' colour does make you hungry, if you like super bright colours, this is worth it!

N.Y.C Color Banana Split Ingredients
Sadly, the silly N.Y.C Color people have decided to write their ingredients out, in white, on a light coloured polish, which makes it very hard to read and even harder to take photos of!

All Swatches have

  • Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base and Top Coat, as a base coat.

N.Y.C Color Review:
Colour
This colour is, such a bright yellow, and as the name suggests, it actually reminds me of a banana! At first , I really liked this colour, but when I put it on my nails, especially my toes, it made my skin look a lots darker, than it usually is. On camera, it looks quite a bit darker than it actually is, but with your own eye, its a lot darker.

Last night was my Dad's graduation party, so we had tonnes of people there, but I remember getting a comment from one lady who said that I was brave to wear such a bright colour!
I dont think if I was looking for a new colour, that I would of bought this one, unless I really needed it for a manicure, because I already have two other yellows, and dont really think I needed one this shade, and it also doesn't really go with any of my clothes.
In the bottle, it really doesn't stand out that much!

Finish
I wasn't really that impressed by the finish, its just as creme finish. But I was impressed that the colour was EXACTLY the same as the bottle colour.

Application and Formula
The formula for this polish is alright, a bit thick and gloopy though, so its a little hard to get a good smooth coat. Its definitely a two coat polish, you could maybe do a three, but I think that would just add to the thickness on your nail. Looking at it now, after the third day, it looks a little streaky still and bits have chipped off. I have only two perfect nails left, as i've taken all the chipped ones off. But you don't know, that could just be my topcoat. So i'm planning to try this polish with another top coat, to see how that works.

Accessibility
I think this colour would be pretty easy to find, I've found the N.Y.C brand in so many places, even a BP Petrol Station! But I haven't actually been looking for this exact colour, so I don't know if that would be as easy, but the brand is defiantly everywhere, from about $1 - $2.50 at the maximum.

Pros:
  • Its VERY cheap
  • Its easy to find
Cons:
  • Gloopy
  • Long-ish Drying time
Final Thoughts
6/10: I think this is an alright colour, if you dont mind waiting for it to dry a while, but you know, I'm a little impatient, so the colours I usually use are the quick drying ones, so its just a little different for me.
It might be worth trying this colour, especially if like like bright uncommon ones, that are super cheap! Let me just say, this is the best 'cheap' colour i've had, if that makes sense!

***This review layout was from the Swatch and Learn Website reviews. If anyone has any problems with me using this, please contact me, as it can be easily changed. http://www.swatchandlearn.com/

*Also, I'm thinking, if you guys would like, I was thinking about doing a video review of my next colour, which I think would be fun, and also interesting for you. So comment to me if you think this is a good idea. I would be doing it on my youtube channel ninahollyd.

Missglamorazzi cupcake nails.

Sorry I havet posted for so long!  wish I could just get some followers! Or even some views!
But anyway, my new favourite youtube person, is Missglamorazi! I love her makeup tutorials and also, her vlogs on her other youtube, TheGridMonster, where she is moving house! And her love of pillow pets!(;

But anyway, what i was planning to say, is I am hoping to try out one of her nail tutorials, for 'Cute Cupcakes' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEKWkIn-OrU which looks like this;
As I live in Australia, I can't really get the exact colours she uses! I can't find any OPI or China Glaze in the whole of tasmania! But the colours I have instead are
  • Instead of OPI Do you Lilac It? ("light purple with attitude"(;  ) I'm using a color from a billabong pack my mum got for me , called 'Colour My Summer' ,

when she went shopping in melbourne, and so I'm using the first colour^^ the purple. Which doesn't have a name, but does say 4B on the bottom.

  • The next colour Ingrid uses is OPI Pinking of You, (apparently a ' loves me , loves me not, petal pink) So instead I am going to be using BYS Baby Pink, which I havent got yet, but am getting next time I go to K-mart!

  • The third colour used is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Yellow Kitty , but I'm using Australis  Nail Colour in 'Rub-a-dub-dub'

  • Then, was China Glaze Re-Fresh-Mint, but Instead I am going to be using either Revlon Minted or Jaded, but I think it will be minted, which I also havent got yet, but will be getting soon.

  • The last base colour used is OPI Whats with the Cattitude? which I was going to use my Billabong Colour My Summer blue, but have only just realised was not the right shade! So, I'll have to go colour hunting for a colour like that! I think probably Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Blue Me Away! for that one.

Those five colours are also used for the sprinkles! Which are made with the dotting tools that I wrote about in my last post.

  • Then she used Sephora by OPI A-ha! Moment for the Icing of the cupcakes. I'm going to be using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On for my Icing. I've heard its a pretty opaque white colour thats not too streaky.

  • The Very Last Colour used is for the cherry on top of the cupcake, even though cherries aren't usually on top of cupcakes, I think it really finishes the look off. The colour that she used it OPI dreaming of Red with a large dotting tool. Instead I used a Satin Colour , which just says Nail Enamel 38. Which is what I will call it.

So, I'm super keen to try this! Can't wait to get my new polishes,! woo! and also, be on the lookout for new reviews, Its School Holidays now, so we're actually allowed to wear nail polish for a change! But , I'm about to do a review, so yeah, read it please! And if anyone has any questions, or just anything they'd like to say, do tell! please! Just feel free to comment on any of my posts,(: xoxo
